Most parents of young kids I know can’t wait for Sunday night. After the kids are asleep at the end of the weekend, many parents feel like they’re finally allowed a moment to rest. Of course the work for the upcoming week needs to be done, but seasoned parents know the work is never really done. It keeps reappearing. Sisyphus doesn’t worry about the boulder being there again tomorrow.
Tomorrow has always been the best excuse. All things can wait until tomorrow. And it’s not as if everything needs to wait to tomorrow. Things have a natural way of getting done. It’s more like, enough things are complete to call it a day. And it’s not strictly tasks that need to be done. often, the simple act of parenting clears the “enough” bar. And when you can’t meet that bar, there’s always tomorrow.
Of course, this is equals parts truth and fiction. While there is always tomorrow, there is never another today. Tomorrow is it’s own. We know this, because children by nature of your existence show this refreshed opportunity of each day. But they also reflect not having enough time. They grow up so fast. Parents need to live in the moment and capture all of the moments they can.
